Dear Orting Community,
On February 8, 2022, you will have the opportunity to approve a four-year replacement educational programs and operations levy (2023-26) for the Orting School District (OSD) Students.
This is your chance to decide the level of staffing, services, and opportunities our students will receive.
This replacement levy provides approximately 10% of our operating budget and funds numerous opportunities for OSD students including:
- After-school activities and athletics
- Classroom instructional materials
- Special education
- Technology
- Safety and security enhancements
- Staffing and substitutes
- Staff professional development
- Transportation services
- General maintenance equipment and services
We strive to balance the needs of our students and staff with fiscal responsibility to our voters, which is why we are asking for a four-year replacement levy (2023-26) with an estimated tax rate of $1.88 per $1000 of assessed property, though we are authorized to ask for up to $2.50 per $1,000 of assessed value.
If approved, our district anticipates collecting:
- $5.67 million in 2023
- $6.53 million in 2024
- $7.5 million in 2025
- $8.63 million in 2026
Starting on Friday, Jan. 21, 2022, you will receive your ballots in the mail.
The deadline to vote is Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022.
