District Public Information Officer Elected as VP of Communications to Serve on State K-12 Public Relations Board for 2022-23 School Year
Orting School District (OSD) Public Information Officer Rashaad O'Neal will serve as the vice president of communications on the Washington School Public Relations Association (WSPRA) Board for the 2022-23 school year.
As a state affiliate of the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA), WSPRA is a nationally-recognized professional organization for K-12 education professionals who strive to improve communication among all stakeholders in Washington state public school systems.
As part of the election process, O'Neal wrote a brief statement explaining why he chose to run for the board and how he will contribute to supporting K-12 public relations professionals and school districts across Washington state. WSPRA members, who have exclusive voting rights, elected O'Neal to represent the organization. Also, he will be the first OSD Staff Member to serve on the WSPRA Board.
This will be O'Neal's second time serving as a board member of a NSPRA-affiliated organization. During the 2019-20 school year, he was an at-large board member and the diversity, equity and inclusion committee chair for the Oregon School Public Relations Association while working as a communications specialist for an education service district in southern Oregon.
O'Neal began working for OSD on the first day of the 2021-22 school year.
